Chillbillies
It's just a term that I thought seemed appropriate in light of Alaska's recent elections. Use it in a sentence? "Those chillbillies' inchoate rage leads them to elect people who seem 'like me'." That is, apparently uneducated, intolerant persons.
I am an occasionally employed English teacher whose specialty is American Literature. My book, "Nature Boys: Camp Discourse in American Literature from Whitman to Wharton," available through Peter Lang publishers, deals with the emergence of the phenomenon of camp as coincident with the emergence of the new figure, the "homosexual," who rose from the ashes of the Sodomite as much more glorious figure.
