Ferraro's vulgarity
Geraldine Ferraro's comments re Obam are breathtaking in their vulgarity and mean-spiritedness. Hillary Clinton's measured response seems patronizing and insincere. If this strategy backfires, as one hopes, perhaps Clinton and Ferraro can get together and have a good cry.
I am an occasionally employed English teacher whose specialty is American Literature. My book, "Nature Boys: Camp Discourse in American Literature from Whitman to Wharton," available through Peter Lang publishers, deals with the emergence of the phenomenon of camp as coincident with the emergence of the new figure, the "homosexual," who rose from the ashes of the Sodomite as much more glorious figure.
